Waukesha® Metal Products and the Milwaukee Bucks honored Sergeant Adam Alexander at one of the ten Hardwood Homecoming Veteran Salutes Bucks games on March 2, 2013 against the Toronto Raptors.
On November 10, 2011 Sergeant Adam Alexander, a five year veteran of the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion based in Ashwaubenon, Wis., and his team came under attack in Paktya province located in Southeast Afghanistan. Insurgents attacked the district center and took hostages while Alexander and his team returned fire. While encountering heavy gunfire, Alexander sustained a serious gunshot wound to the head and was immediately transported to receive life-saving care and stabilize his wounds.
After nine exhausting months of rehab and five surgeries, including the restructuring of his skull and eye, Sergeant Alexander has come out on top and continues on the path to getting stronger each and every day. Originally from Potosi, Wis. Sergeant Alexander got married in the fall of 2012 and currently resides with his wife, Kate, in Oshkosh.
Sergeant Alexander’s injuries typically have a survival rate of 5 percent, but it was his will to survive for his family, friends, and fellow soldiers that has allowed him to be with us here today.
Waukesha® Metal Products and the Milwaukee Bucks were proud to have the opportunity to say thankyou to Sergeant Alexander for his service and welcome him home to the hardwood. The commitment and sacrifice our military have shown for this country is valued by all; their courage and dedication has not gone unnoticed. Thank you Sergeant Alexander and the other members of your unit who have served our country, we cannot thank you enough.
