To help John Long Middle School’s eighth grade class celebrate National Manufacturing Day, Waukesha® Metal Products is making a donation to fund the bus transportation from the middle school to their fabrication facility in Grafton, Wis. on Friday, Oct. 4 for a tour of the plant. Roughly 80 students and 10 chaperones will be attending the facility tour and learning about the benefits of the manufacturing industry.
Robin Morgan, the Technology and Engineering Department teacher at John Long Middle School stated, “I am so thankful for the opportunity to tour my students through the Grafton facility of Waukesha ® Metal Products. More than my words, more than information about high-level manufacturing in Grafton; for the students to see first-hand the cutting-edge technology and highly-skilled professionals right here in their hometown is simply priceless.”
When Waukesha® Metal Products presented the donation to Morgan, she talked about the students’ immediate excitement, “Upon hearing of the donation of a field trip to the First Street location, students immediately began trying to figure out which students lived nearby, who had seen where the building was, what type of technology they would be able to see, what it would sound like, smell like, etc. They are excited to see beyond classroom learning into the ‘real world’ Waukesha® Metal Product’s is offering a peek into through this trip.”
As a company, Waukesha® Metal Products believes it is essential to create a positive image to young minds about the manufacturing industry and its potential career opportunities. Hosting open houses and informational presentations allows Waukesha® Metal Products to educate young new talent that has been difficult to find in the industry.
President and CEO, Jeff Clark, of Waukesha® Metal Products believes “Manufacturing Day is a great opportunity to show our community the skills and technology required to manufacture metal products! We are very excited to have 80 eighth graders from Grafton’s John Long Middle School tour our fabrication facility and learn about our manufacturing processes.”
Robin Morgan also talks about the importance of creating a positive image for manufacturing, “In a time where so many hold misconceptions regarding manufacturing in America, I am so grateful to celebrate this National Manufacturing Day with the future (my students) in a future-driven manufacturing firm.”
Waukesha® Metal Products is excited to celebrate with John Long Middle School’s eighth grade class and others in the community. Opening our doors and showing people the manufacturing world first-hand can help eliminate these misconceptions and the perfect way to celebrate National Manufacturing Day.
