National Manufacturing Day

October 5th, 2012 is National Manufacturing Day!  Manufacturing facilities across the country will be opening their doors to highlight the importance to manufacturing to the nation’s economy and draw attention to the many rewarding high-skill jobs available in the manufacturing fields.

Talent

Waukesha Metal Products recognizes that talent will be a key differentiator in the future growth of our organization and in the growth of American manufacturing overall.  WMP has made a commitment to develop talent by promoting manufacturing to younger generationsthrough youth apprenticeship programs, internships, Second Chance and co-op programs.  These programs introduce manufacturing to individuals and provide them with opportunities that may lead to rewarding careers in manufacturing.

"Got Manufacturing"

America was built on innovation, craftsmanship and hard work. The historic wealth created by manufacturing products that the world consumer desired, built a sustainable economic engine in this country and across the globe. I had the fortune of growing-up outside of Detroit and experiencing some of the fruits of a major manufacturing region. Most of my family worked in the automotive factories, and those who did not work for the automotive companies had jobs that relied on them.

Metalforming Program Manager

Why don’t all metalform manufacturers’ staff internal program managers? The benefits far outweigh any other option when it comes to customer focused commitment. Program Managers are available to answer your questions, update you on projects and tasks as well as provide technical feedback on design and production. Does your metal stamper or fabricator provide you with one point of contact for each and every project?

Focus on Fabricating

Sheet metal fabrications (laser cutting, punching, forming, welding, assembly, etc.) are used by a wide range of industries. Regardless of your line of work, the most important thing is how your fabrication is being produced and how well it is serving the needs of your customers. There are many companies offering these services, but do your research and choose wisely. Below are 6 tips for choosing the right sheet metal fabricator for your projects.

Apprenticeship, Intern and Co-op Programs = Sustainable Growth!

Wisconsin, like other Midwest states, benefits from generations of workers with strong work ethics and skills. These traits were enhanced by a vocational education system that generated skilled workers for all trades needed to fuel our economic engine. Unfortunately, all we talk about today is the growing skills gap and “workforce paradox” facing our country. How can the unemployment rate be so high with manufacturers struggling to fill skilled positions?

Validating Design with Formability Analysis

Before taking the plunge on a new metal stamping design, eliminate your risks of material failures upfront. Your metalforming supplier should provide you with a formability assessment early in the quote stage to show any risks and issues before costs are committed.
