Job Purpose: Create, maintain and update tool design and component drawings of various complexity using customer drawings, sketches, and verbal direction to provide a finished product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Essential Job Functions:
• Analyze requirements, methods, and specifications to determine and develop, the most economical and effective tool or part design
• Select and specify materials and material treatments to be used to ensure maximum tool life
• Use Solidworks and other software programs to create accurate drawings within the required timeframe
• Study existing tooling and methods to increase design capabilities
• Act as a technical resource for product field support of customers and assist in addressing and resolving questions and problems
• Maintain and update drawing files
• Follow all company policies and procedures as applicable to position
• Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures
• Understand and follow health, safety, security, and environmental practices

Non-essential Job Functions:
• Provide reports as needed
• Stay current in new development in the industry
• Travel maybe required
• Other tasks, duties , and responsibilities as requested by the Vice President or other member of management

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• 2 years of design school or related experience
• Toolmaker background preferred
• Experience in creating and modifying drawings from written and verbal instructions
• Progressive die design experience (5 years minimum)

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge:
• Ability to read and interpret complex drawings
• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, customers and other co-workers
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry
Ability to solve practical problems

Protective Equipment required: (In Manufacturing Area)
• Steel-toed work shoes
• Ear plugs
• Safety glasses with side shields
