Job Purpose: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in production and repair of metalworking dies, jig, fixtures, gauges, and cutting tools, applying knowledge of machining and tool and die construction.

• GD&T, stamped part drawings interpretation and parts measurement skills
• Machine tools operation
• Supplier development
• Engineering change, design and implementation
• Welding and tooling components repair
• Tooling tryout, buyoff and product release
• Tooling refurbishment and corrective maintenance
• Environmental and quality systems implementation and management
• Preventative maintenance planning
• Problem solving and process improvement
• Inventory maintenance

Non-essential Job Functions:
• Travel maybe required
• Other task, duties, and responsibilities as requested by the Operations Manager or other member of management
• Provide reports on tooling as required

Education and/or Experience:
• 10+ years of experience as a tooling supervisor in an automotive environment
• Understanding of tooling component materials, heat treatments, coating and sensoring systems
• Analysis and problem-solving skills

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge:
• Ability to use measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers test sets, and gaging equipment
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as dimensions, tolerance, etc.
• Ability to operate computer and working knowledge of typical office programs – i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
• Understanding of drawings and related documents
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
• Excellent attention to details

Physical Demands:

• Requires tolerance of standing up to 8 hours, intermittent sitting, and walking
• Regularly requires to hear and talk
• Occasionally required to reach above shoulders, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls

Work Environment:
• Primary work is performed in tool room
• Noise level in the work environment is loud

Protective Equipment Required:
• Steel-toed work shoes
• Ear plugs
• Safety glasses with side shields
