Job Purpose: The Welding Specialist will support the implementation of the WMP welding program. Responsibilities include qualification of welders and welding procedures, help ensure the integrity of the quality assurance program, perform research & development, help implement industry best practices, and ensure adherence to applicable codes, specifications, and standards.
Essential Job Functions:
• Welding Cell Operation
• Establishes the technique that has to be applied in each welding operation
• Supervises welding installations, operations and machinery
• Elaboration of manuals and procedures of the welding system
• Program the automated and robotized welding equipment
• Definition and adjustment of process parameters
• Support for design and manufacture of welding jigs
• Follow all clean-up & housekeeping procedures (5S)
• Understand and follow health, safety, security, quality, and environmental practices.
• Follow all company policies and procedures as applicable to the position

Non-essential Job Functions:
• Other tasks, duties and responsibilities as requested by the Production Coordinator or other member of management
• Travel to other WMP locations, vendors, customers, etc.
• Collaborates in the prevention of accidents

Education and/or Experience:
• Engineering or related technical degree preferred
• Experienced Tool & Die Maker or relevant manufacturing experience may be acceptable
• Experience a minimum of 5 years’ experience in welding operations or a combination of a minimum of 5 years of formal metallurgical education & welding experience

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge:
• Ability to use measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers test sets, and gauging equipment
• Ability to technical drawing skills and 3D models
• High oral and written communication skills
• Ability to operate computer and working knowledge of typical office programs – i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
• Analytical, leadership and teamwork

Physical Demands:
• Requires sitting, intermittent standing, and walking
• Occasionally required to reach above shoulders, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls

Training Requirements:
• Training requirements as applicable to the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System

• Noise level in manufacturing is loud
